I’ve just read that they have decided to re-name the Karate Kid remake. Thank you! The Kung Fu Kid is a name that I recommended back in January.
This is the first positive news that I have heard. According to an interview with Jackie Chan, found on FirstShowing: “They don’t want to call it Karate Kid any more,” Chan said. “They want to call it The Kung Fu Kid.”
It’s about time that a company got some bit of intelligence when doing a remake of a film that many, including myself, consider to be a classic among films created in the past 150 years.
I mean, Pat Morita was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in the original Karate Kid. Let’s not have Jackie Chan try to repeat that performance. Let’s see if the news continues to improve as character names are changed, and the name Miyagi doesn’t appear in the film.

Whoa! I almost missed this one. I was initially a little nervous about the new Stargate series: Stargate Universe. But now I can hardly wait for it to begin. Having seen the first photo of the cast, as well as the teaser for the show, I can already see that it’s going to be epic in scope and different enough from the other Stargate shows to be fresh.
Having watched and enjoyed all of the episodes of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis over the last 4 or 5 years (I was late to the fandom) I am pretty happy about catching it from the start for the first time.
In a turn of events that I had not expected, another Transformers veteran is set to return to the fold. Joining Optimus Prime’s voice actor Peter Cullen is Frank Welker. Frank Welker gave voice to Megatron and Soundwave among other characters in the original Transformers animated series. Fans have spoken up about bringing him on board and Michael Bay responded:
I think I’m going to pursue Frank on Soundwave.
A very succinct and exciting proposition. This movie just gets bigger and bigger all the time!
