This week was Nintendo’s Press Conference at E3. The announcements that were made completely topped last year’s show and puts Nintendo on top as the definite winner of this year’s E3. Last year I was a bit disappointed even though I was pleased by what was announced. I was hoping for three properties to be announced that weren’t. This year, those three properties were all accounted for: Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus and Zelda!
This year’s list is ridiculously long. I can’t even begin to tell you how much Nintendo has just blown my mind. While looking into the games that I wanted to write about, I found more games that Nintendo has announced at E3. (more…)
A couple of years ago I wrote an article called “Donkey Kong Country Trilogy, My Dream Game” never thinking that it would actually happen. Nor that a true sequel would actually happen. But this week I have been given an amazing gift from Nintendo. They announced a new DKC game at E3! This wasn’t the only game that surprised me at this E3 and I’ll be writing my response to a bunch of the games that Nintendo announced like I did last year.
This game, however, is enough for me to feel that Nintendo has won this years E3 Expo. I know that this is a selfish reason, though. I’m completely pumped about the game and look forward to jumping back into the DKC world when the game comes out this fall. The original is my all time favorite video game, and I loved the sequels as well. I just never dreamed that I would see another one so soon.
One of the absolute best games for the Nintendo Wii is Super Mario Galaxy. I had such a good time playing through that game, that I am hoping to find the time to play through it all again. In fact, I played through it twice the first go around, because of what happens when you get all of the stars. When it was over, I was hoping for more. I did not expect Nintendo to deliver, though, as there hasn’t been a proper Mario sequel since the Nintendo Entertainment System, with Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3. On the Super NES, there was the sort of sequel, Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario World 2. But That wasn’t a proper sequel game.
I’ve been following whatever news I can about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit since the character was brought back to Disney for the first time since Walt Disney lost the character. You see, before Mickey Mouse existed, he had created the character of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and when he was fired from the animation studio that produced the cartoons, he left for California where he created Mickey Mouse. What happened next? Well, Mickey is one of the most recognizable characters in the world, and Oswald is not.
But now he’s making his return in a very inventive way.
That didn’t take long at all. The artwork for the new Legend of Zelda game in the works for Wii has just been released by Nintendo.
Not only that, but Studio Ghibli and Level 5 are working on an RPG for the DS called Ninokuni. There’s no word on when or if it’ll come stateside, but it is beautiful.
Sony has done it again, and made me happy that I have never owned a Playstation. In short, just so that everything is clear:
In NTSC regions such as the United States, Atari is handling distribution of the game, and it WILL be released on time on ALL consoles on June 16th.
In PAL regions such as the United Kingdom, Sony is handling distribution of the game and ONLY releasing it on PS3, PS2 and PSP on June 19th, and Wii, DS and 360 in Fall 2009.
Sony has a history of bad moves like this. (more…)
Wow! I know what I am doing on June 16th! Get ready for the return of the Ghostbusters in the video game that I have waited 25 years to play. Seriously, from the time I was a kid, at the arcade, playing the Ghostbusters arcade game, I have wanted a Ghostbusters game just like this.
In my head I imagined a game where you would take on a single ghost at a time, like when the busters go after Slimer in the first film. Or maybe two, like in Ghostbusters II. But every video game had multiples of ghosts attacking from all sides. Not only that, but the ghosts could do a lot of damage to you. Unlike in the Ghostbusters films and The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, where the most damage was really done using objects like trash cans. And the occasional slime of course! (He slimed me!)
A new video just came out with more details on the Ghostbusters video game that comes out on June 16th. It’s going to be awesome, and I’m going to obtain copies for both Xbox 360 and Wii, as well as the game for the DS. All three feature the same storyline, but with different graphics, and controls, should offer a lot of fun regardless of the system of play.
What a day. It’s been a long and arduous day, but I did manage to find this really great looking trailer for the TMNT fighting game coming out this fall for Wii. This isn’t just a rehash of the old TMNT: Tournament Fighters game that was released on the SNES all those years ago. This is from a creative team that worked on Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Now, the trailer that has surfaced isn’t as action packed as I would have liked, when it comes to the fighting; but the graphics and the feel of the gameplay are about right.
I’d rather have a table of characters like the one in Smash Brothers, but I suppose this will do. Take a look at the trailer after the break, as well as screenshots.
Ubisoft has announced a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for Wii, to be released later this year. The creative team developing it is called Game Arts, who had a hand in preliminary development on Super Smash Brothers Brawl. That is great news, as far as the Ninja Turtles are concerned. Smash Brothers is one of the greatest games ever released on any console, period, and to have this team on the Turtles property speaks volumes for the game.
